About PitchKit
Most billboards are boring. Not broken. Not offensive. Boring. Business cards on sticks.
We spent our careers in OOH watching the cycle repeat.
A salesperson builds a proposal for Citywide HVAC, and includes what Metro HVAC did. Logo, phone number, website, photo of the owners. Here's proof that HVAC companies advertise on billboards. The client nods and asks for the same thing.
The examples set the expectation. The expectation produced another bad billboard.
Now there's one more bad billboard on the street to show the next client.Nobody meant for it to go this way. Most operators didn't get into this business because they love advertising creative. They got into it because they're good at building and running a business that happens to be an advertising medium. The creative culture was never the point. But they know good-looking boards move inventory. They know the more people who see something worth noticing, the more calls they get. They just don't always have something worth showing.
Spec work was supposed to fix this. It didn't.
We always hated making it. We knew nothing about the client, we missed the mark, they ran whatever they wanted anyway. What salespeople actually needed wasn't a custom mockup for every prospect. It was a portfolio. Something that shows what's possible. Something that earns the meeting and changes what the client thinks to ask for.
That's what PitchKit is. A library of actually good billboard ads, organized by industry and ready to put to work. No more scouring the internet for creative that probably isn't real and definitely isn't yours to share. No more POP shots taken by the installers. Just a portfolio you can be proud to open.
Show your clients something good.
It changes everything that comes after.
Who Made It
We're Todd Turner and Richard Molinaro. We spent our careers deep in OOH, at companies like Adams Outdoor and Outfront and with independent operators across the country. We made a ton of work we're proud of. We won enough awards to fill several shelves. We made billboards that got our cities buzzing. We created campaigns that blew past every goal our clients set. But for every award-winner, we had to design a handful of septic tank-worthy billboards.
We know both sides of this problem. That's why we built PitchKit.
We run Up To Something, a creative studio specializing in out-of-home advertising for local and regional brands. When you're ready to go beyond the library and want a campaign purpose-built to hit business goals, give us a shout.
